Autologous or allogeneic transplantation, conditioning intensity, stem-cell source and timing can only be selected after the adult transplant team reviews the diagnosis, disease status, prior treatment, organ function and alternatives.
Recipient Assessment Is Case-Specific
The team may consider diagnosis, remission or disease status, prior therapy, pathology, marrow findings, performance status, infections and heart, lung, liver and kidney function. Final acceptance remains a hospital decision.
Donor Suitability Requires Separate Review
A relative or other possible donor is not automatically suitable. Allogeneic transplantation requires hospital-led HLA testing, medical assessment, informed consent and any applicable legal or registry checks.
